Wheat Bread (Nadine Partridge)

  • 6 cups warm water
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 2 tablespoons dough enhancer, optional
  • 3/4 cup Canola oil
  • 8 cups wheat flour,
  1. Mix all above ingredients together in a large bowl.
  • 2 cups wheat flour
  • 2 cups bread flour
  • 4 tablespoons yeast
  1. Add flour and yeast to bowl and mix together.  If dough is too sticky to work with, sprinkle in more white flour.
  2. Dump dough onto a large board coated with butter.
  3. Knead dough.
  4. Put dough back into bowl and let rise for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  6. Dump dough onto board coated with butter and divide into 4 equal portions.
  7. Roll out loaves and roll up, pinch together and put in loaf pans.
  8. Cover with plastic wrap sprayed with pam and let rise 30 minutes.
  9. Bake 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes.
  10. Cool on rack for 30 minutes.
  11. Option- Cinnamon bread loaves.  Roll out dough into a rectangle and spread with melted butter.  Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture, brown sugar and a bit of flour.  Rolls up and shape into a loaf pinching ends.  Optional- after bread cools, drizzle with glaze.
